This quality ammonite specimen is from Morocco. It is cut in half to reveal a deeply rich interior which includes spirals, pockets of crystals (smokey, clear, and citrine), and beautiful artistic patterns. The back side has some play in iridescent color (known as ammolite). It shows a small amount of beautiful ammonitic suture on the back as well.
Ammonoids are a group of extinct marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea of the class Cephalopoda. The earliest ammonites appear during the Devonian, and the last species vanished in the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.
