Polish flint is a member of the chalcedony family. Flint is a sedimentary cryptocrystalline form of the mineral quartz. The internal layering makes this stone unique. This type of flint is also called banded flint. It only occurred in the Jurassic limestone in Poland (160 million years ago). The irregular banding creates picturesque internal structures, which makes it perfect for use in distinct jewelry pieces.
